This Florence campground is definitely away from it all—or, at least, it’s 10km (6 miles) away from Florence itself. It’s on a terraced but not overly pretty site in an exceedingly pretty area, surrounded by forests of oak, cypress, and pine.
Just around the mountain from Fiesole, it's home to a cadre of cats, a small aviary, and a far-off view of the Florentine skyline.
The 400 campsites run €6–€8 for a tent site, double that if you also have a car (or €12.50–€16 with a campervan), plus €9.50–€12.50 per adult.
With a pool, small restaurant, mini-mart, and WiFi, it's not a bad place to pitch your tent, and various types of cabin let you rough it without getting overly dirty—simple mobile homes from €50 (€30 in the off-season), and nicer wooden chalets from €75 (€45 in the off-season).
However, for those who have come to spend their time in Florence, the double dose of local buses to get here—it's about a 20–30 minute walk east of the center of Fiesole, so it behooves you to take the local bus—make it worthwhile only if you have your own wheels.
