Where to eat in Marsala, Sicily

Marsala's only true trattoria within the walls is Ignazio and Franco's cheap but good Garibaldi on Piazza Addolorata (Via Rubino 35), tel. +39-0923-953-006.

Ristorante Alfajer - You can dine on Marsala's best-priced seafood in the same defunct winery complex at the westernmost tip of town (and Sicily, for that matter) that houses the Punic warship. If nothing else, the setting is majestic, with tables scattered under the huge pointed tufa arches of a former vino warehouse—although for sea breezes (but no view) you can choose to sit on the tented terrace slapped onto the side. Listing too many dishes would be pointless, as the menu varies with whatever's freshest at the market every morning, but you'll usually find spaghetti alla vongole verace, cus cus di pesce and the self-service antipasto buffet.
