Hotel Villa Amore

Room at Hotel Villa Amore, Ravello. (Photo by TK)

A cheap hotel in the hills of Ravello

This little gem run by a pair of kindly ladies is quite a climb above the main piazza, but that only makes it feel more like a hidden retreat.

The paisley-spread beds are a little soft and the phones aren't direct dial, but most baths are fairly new, the tile floors are scattered with rugs, it's heated in winter, and there are abundant breezes to part the curtains in summer.

All 14 rooms have small terraces to enjoy the views down the crinkly coast running east of Ravello; from upstairs rooms this vista is unobstructed, but downstairs you have to peek past a little flowering garden.

The setting is quiet as can be, and breakfast is served on the panoramic terrace. There's also an inexpensive restaurant with picture-window views.
