How to get from Herculaneum to Mt. Vesuvius by bus

From in front of the Ercolano-Scavi train station, there's a special bus (Vesuvioexpress.info; tel. 081-739-3666) five times daily up to the Piazzale Quota 1000 parking lot at 1,000 feet above sea level (€10 ($12) round-trip; 55 min.).

How to get from Pompeii to Mt. Vesuvius by bus

From Pompeii, you can also catch an EAV "Trasporti Vesuviani" bus here five times daily (€2.70 ($3) each way; 55 min); buses leave Pompei down in the modern town's Piazza Anfiteatro.

How to get from Naples to Mt. Vesuvius by bus

From March through December, EAV runs is a special Napoli-Vesuvio bus that leaves from Piazza Piedigrotta (by the Mergellina Metro stop) at 9am and again at 10am, spending half an hour running around other Naples stops before leaving for Vesuvius, arriving 90 minutes later.

The return buses are as 12:30pm and 2:30pm.
