Plane to Naples, Naples, Italy (Photo by Ra Boe)

Flying into Naples (NAP) at the Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino

Naples international airport (NAP) is at Capodichino, a mere 7km (4.3 miles) north of the center.

It only takes about 20 minutes to get downtown.

How to get to downtown Naples (or the Naples docks) from the Naples airport

Between Naples and Naples airport by public transport (15–30 min; €5 ($6))

There's a shuttle bus service run by the public bus system called Alibus ( that leaves roughly every 20 minutes (at least 2–3 times per hour) between 6:30am and 11:39pm.

It takes 15–20 minutes to get from the airport to the first downtown stop at Piazza Garibaldi (by the central train station) then continues on to Piazza Municipio by the Molo Beverello ferry docks and cruise terminal (30–35 min. total).

You can buy tickets (€5 ($6)) on the bus or at the Sun Store inside the airport.

Between Naples and Naples airport by taxi (15–30 min; from €18 ($21))

Costs from Naples' airport into Campania
Taking a taxi from the airport to go beyond Naples itself quickly becomes a pricey proposition. Here are the official flat rates for a taxi transfer, alongside those of a private transfer (since you pay by the vehicle, the higher number is per person for just two people, the lower number for 8 people; for every number in between, just imagine a sliding scale).

Destination Taxi Private transfer
Naples €18 ($21)–€25 ($29) €10 ($12)–€25 ($29)
Sorrento €110 ($129) €18 ($21)–€59 ($69)
Amalfi €140 ($164) €24 ($28)–€69 ($81)
Positano €130 ($152) €22 ($26)–€135 ($158)
Pompeii €100 ($117) €16 ($19)–€47 ($55)
Vesuvius €100 ($117) €60 ($70)–€191 ($224)
Ravello €145 ($170) €22 ($26)–€135 ($158)
Amalfi Coast tour €230 ($270) €68 ($80)–€212 ($248)

Taxis between the Naples airport and downtown Naples take about 15 minutes and cost €18 ($21) to €25 ($29), depending on far away the neighborhood is.

Taxis between the Naples airport and the Molo Beverello docks at the port (for ferries and cruises) take about 25 minutes and cost €21 ($25).

All of those are flat rates, that include extra passengers, baggage, night fees, airport charge, etc. Do not let a driver try to charge you extra for any of those things. The only two legitimate surcharge items not covered by the flat fees are any highway tolls (unlikely), and any "Radio Taxi" fee (if you called ahead for a cab rather than just getting in the taxi line at the airport or at a taxi rank in town).

Between Naples and Naples airport by private transfer (15–30 min; from €10 ($12)–€25 ($29))

Our partner,, offers private transfers to and from the Naples airport and the city center hotels or train station (€10 ($12)–€25 ($29)), or the Amalfi Coast (from €22 ($26)) and Sorrento (from €18 ($21)):
