This three-hour stroll takes us along the Naples' waterfront, exploring the political and social history of the city from its Greek origins as Neapolis to modern times. It is led by either an art or social historian, and, while exploring rich scholarly themes, attempts to paint a realistic picture of life in Naples today, in all of its chaotic beauty. The walk begins with an exploration of Castel Nuovo, the political fulcrum of the city during antiquity, when there was an important commercial port in the area (some Roman ships have recently been discovered nearby), up through the high medieval period when Petrarch and Boccaccio were guests here. We will also observe the other Neapolitan castle, Castle dell'Ovo (literally, the egg castle), which also has a history stretching back to Roman times and has had many reincarnations, most notably as a prison under the Normans.
With a view of the bay of Naples as a backdrop, we will push on to the Palazzo Reale, designed by Domenico Fontana, which served as the royal palace during the reign of the Spanish Bourbons in the 18th century. Boasting an overwrought imperial-style of interior decoration, the royal apartments attest to the wealth and power of the city during Bourbon rule. Our itinerary can vary at this point, continuing along the waterfront to imbibe some of the great scenery, or turning in to the dense Spanish district and its artist treasures, such as the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli or the Palazzo Serra di Cassano. The emphasis of this walk is on understanding the political and social development of Naples, and therefore serves as an excellent primer for further explorations in the city. From lowly harbor to elaborate palace, this coastal area is a true marker of the complex Neapolitan identity.

• About me
I was born in a "family hotel" and over the years I have been able to collect many stories about the Battle of Cassino that have left to me by veterans and relatives of soldiers and many historians that stayed in my hotel. I became very knowledgable and I'm really enthusiast to share these experiences, giving life to a live storytelling that starts from the little museum of my hotel. I will let you discover my territory by following the signs left by history through the paths that were the scenery of that long battle of 1944.
• The Gustav Wine
Not only, this is a good opportunity to have a special aperitivo italiano with a wine taste of the "Gustav Wine"; this is a bottle of a unique wine of which I invented the label, inspired by the vines I saw growing during my walks on the paths of the battlefield behind Monte Cassino. Now I like to think about these wires of wine, and reflect how have replaced the barbed wire that was in the same position in 1944 to completely covered this wonderful hills. I will be also very happy to land you my personal map with some tips and special suggestions to give you more opportunity to move around also by yourself indipendently to have all possibility to visit much more is possible about Cassino battlefields trought the secrets of the Cassinese.

Instead, through this unique experience, we will subvert to this perspective, "dragging to the valley" taking away from the oblivion of time, long hidden stories of civilians and soldiers who, by fate, shared almost nine months of war in the mountains between Montecassino and the sea.

Ah, Italia. It seems a little unfair that one country does food, architecture, art, history and the central social square so perfectly.
It's just a shame the rest of the world feels the same way! But while most associate Italy with summer, relatively mild winters make Italy the perfect place to visit during the off season.
On this trip, you'll see all the fabulous spots with far fewer tourists crowding the squares and clogging up the lines.
Take in the crumbling ruins of Rome, whimsical Florence and the floating 15th century city of Venice in this diverse tour.
