A vineyard spilling steeply downhill from a gorgeous 18C villa that also rents rooms
The main road south out of Radda toward Siena winds along the valley of the Piana stream, and to your left you’ll almost immediately see the 18C Villa Strozzi-Sonnino crowning a steep hillside of Vistarenni vines.
They offer direct sales weekdays from 8:30am to 5:30pm and will set up tastings for small groups (book at least a day in advance) as well as tours of 18C cellars carved directly from the rock underneath.
They are also now offering—as are most vineyards these days—rooms, apartments, and villas for rent.
Queen of Italy Margherita di Savoia stayed in the suite named for her in 1898. The room named for Principe Ferdinando Strozzi (proprietor from 1852 to 1892—and Italian Senator from Tuscany from 1860) has vineyard views.
